TULSA, Okla. — The Historic Greenwood District was once a thriving hub in Tulsa, torn down in the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. A Tulsan is taking it upon himself to restore prosperous business in Black Wall Street in the form of an app.

“When you are actually trying to support you just don’t know where they’re at, you know, that’s the hardest part,” Daniel Rogers said.

Rogers launched his app ‘Black Dais’ this week. Rogers is uploading a directory of around 400 black-owned Oklahoma businesses to the app.

“There’s no other apps or websites out there that have more than

These technologies could hold back business travel indefinitely

It’s a sunny, breezy morning in Eugene, Ore., a place best known for access to the great outdoors, a history of environmental activism and being the birthplace of Nike. I’m standing outside a nondescript, one-story industrial space, speaking with Mark Frohnmayer, chief executive of Arcimoto, maker of a three-wheeled electric vehicle it calls a “fun utility vehicle.”

Only I’m not in Oregon. I’m still stuck at home, on the opposite coast, relying — like many of us — on an ever-growing array of tools that allow me to do my job remotely. In this

Understanding Return On Capital Employed (ROCE)

Covid-19’s Toll on U.S. Business? 200,000 Extra Closures in Pandemic’s First Year

Ruben Onsu

The economic toll from the Covid-19 pandemic has been tough to measure, but new estimates from the Federal Reserve suggest it wasn’t as bad as feared for smaller businesses.

The pandemic resulted in the permanent closure of roughly 200,000 U.S. establishments above historical levels during the first year of the viral outbreak, according to a study released Thursday by economists at the Fed. In recent years, about 600,000 establishments have permanently closed per year, or about 8.5%, according to the study.

Individual companies account for about two-thirds—or roughly 130,000—of the extra closures if  historical patterns hold, according to the Fed

OSHA fines Lynn tax business $136K for prohibiting face masks in office

A Lynn tax preparation business is facing $136,532 in fines from the U.S. Department of Labor after an inspection found its owner prohibited employees and customers from wearing face masks while in the office.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited Ariana Murrell-Rosario, owner of Liberty Tax Services, for “willfully failing to develop and implement measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus,” the agency said in a press release on Tuesday.

According to OSHA, Murrell-Rosario banned masks despite the state’s mask order that required they be worn in places of business; made employees and customers work within six
